The 80s

As the club became more established and gained a well earned reputation as being the “friendly club” membership expanded. The North West companies joined and became staunch supporters; South East based companies’ felt it beneficial to join. The Norwich Union chief underwriter attended regularly and was known to commandeer the company plane for the purpose.

In 1982 Bob Clough took over from Mick Furie as Secretary/Treasurer and this was marked by a move away from the ubiquitous chicken to our present home at the Queens Hotel. The Lillybrook soon went bust when we withdrew our custom.
